At once dominating, but at the same time blending with the lush landscape, Il-Kalkara is a 200-year-old farmhouse enjoying a prominent position in the green valley of Lunziata on the way to Xlendi bay. Entrance is to a central courtyard with nearly all the rooms have the beautiful views of the pool area, gardens and the Lunziata valley.
Munxar lies to the south of Gozo, between the Xlendi valley and the village of Sannat. The name is derived from the arabic, meaning 'bucksaw', and it was the last place in Gozo to become a parish.
The church was built between 1914 and 1925. The foundation stone being laid on 2nd February 1914; it was consecrated on 18th October 1925 and established a parish by Bishop Joseph Pace on the same date. The church is dedicated to the islands most famous shipwreck, that being of Saint Paul in A.D. 60.
